Declared a national park in 1975, the Matusadona National Park is a remote and rugged wilderness.

The Matusadona mountain range reaches 600 metres high and is bounded by the Sanyati river in the east and the Ume in the west.

Wildlife is plentiful ranging from elephant, buffalo and lion to a variety of antelope species.

Each year in October lake Kariba plays host to the annual Kariba International Tiger Fishing Tournament.
