Matusadona national park
is not known for its mass tourism. It is remote and reachable only by boat, 4 x 4 or fly in.
But this park is beautiful. The raw stark beauty of the park is showcased in the Sanyati Gorge.
A backdrop to the park is the 600m high Matusadona mountain range.
The drowned forests that line the shores of both the mainland and island form one of Kariba’s most striking and memorable features.
Two perennial rivers, the Ume and Sanyati flank the river.
For the birder there are more than 240 species
Mammal species consist of lion, buffalo, waterbuck, hippo, leopard, zebra and impala.
